24일 독일축구협회(DFB) 베른트 노이엔도르프 회장은 독일 프랑크푸르트에서 공식 기자회견을 열고 위르겐 감독 선임을 공식 발표했다. 노이엔도르프 회장은 “오늘 위르겐 클롭을 독일 대표팀의 새 감독으로 소개할 수 있게 되어 매우 행복하다”고 밝혔다. 그는 “클롭은 열정, 신뢰, 사람들을 이끄는 능력을 가진 지도자다. 나겔스만 감독 사임 이후 그는 우리의 제한 없는 1순위 후보였다. 우리는 일관되게 그를 원했다”고 밝혔다.

4년 계약을 체결한 클롭 감독은 유로 2028을 거쳐 2030 월드컵까지 독일 대표팀을 지휘하게 된다. 이날 클롭 감독은 대표팀 감독으로 취임한 소감에 대해 “국가대표팀은 그 어떤 것보다도 우리 독일을 하나로 묶어준다. 바로 그 점이 저에겐 이 자리가 특별하다”고 밝혔다.
